Ubaid Ahmed » Changes in halide perovskite single crystals induced by complex spent nuclear fuel radiation

Institute of Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences

Location: KFKL seminar room

  1. The objective of this work is to design and study halide perovskites in terms of their potential application for conversion and storage of energy from spent nuclear fuel.
  2. The motivation of the research is that Czech Republic is one of the top 10 nuclear energy generating countries. High nuclear production mean high amount of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF). SNF radiates energy which can be used for storage as well as for conversion into electrical energy.
  3. The detailed analysis of perovskites irradiated by spent nuclear fuel assembly IRT 4M (consisting of high energy gamma photons and suppressed neutron fluxes) was done.
  4. In results section, I will be discussing about X-ray diffraction and DSC results.
