Study of the crystal structure of HEA alloys using multi-wavelength X-ray diffraction

Jaroslav Nauš - diploma thesis

The work focuses on the application of powder X-ray diffraction for studying HEA-type alloys. The aim of the work is to verify whether it is possible to determine which positions each atom occupies using anomalous X-ray scattering. Our samples are based on Fe3Al, where iron atoms are replaced by vanadium and chromium atoms. They were measured at four wavelengths corresponding to manganese, chromium, cobalt, and copper anodes. The records were evaluated by joint refinement by the Rietveld method. The resulting data were compared, and the discussion will cover whether the method works, its shortcomings, and potential improvements.
