Jan Kuneš » X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism in Altermagnets

Masaryk University, Department of Condensed Matter Physics

Joined with Nanoseminar

Location: Lecture room F2, first floor - MFF UK, Ke Karlovu 5

The term 'altermagnetism' has recently appeared in solid state physics referring to antiferromagnets possessing certain properties of ferromagnets such as non-zero linear magneto-optical effects. After an introduction to core-level spectroscopies and their ab initio simulation, I will present our recent calculation of circular dichroism in the X-ray absorption on MnTe films using the dynamical mean-field theory. I will discuss the symmetry aspects of altermagnetism as well as pros and cons of the X-ray spectroscopy for their investigation.

Seminar on Condensed Matter Theory

Group of Theoretical Physics organizes a regular seminar on theory of condensed matter physics.

Usually, we meet
every Thursdays at 13:00
in seminar room F 052
Ke Karlovu 5, 121 16 Praha 2.

You are welcome to join us!
